using a rainwater butt with resin for final wash

Looking to stop hand drying the 2 cars in the household and switch to pure water rinse.

I took some TDS reading of my tap water - 225 ppm (parts per million

The rain water off the (admittedly very clean clean) gutters is 4 ppm.

I had been looking at buying resin and DI vessel for final wash but the high tap water TDS put me off as I'd be running through it too quickly.

Just wondering if anyone here had tried something similar with rainwater butt and pump as the source for a resin filtered final rinse?
