All along I thought Nunes would win the rematch and do it convincingly. However, the closer we get to the fight, the more I'm leaning toward Pena retaining. I thought she looked tremendous during weigh-ins and looked razor focused during the press conference. Something seems a little off with Nunes but can't quite put my finger on it.

Elsewhere on the card, I'm really looking forward to Moreno/Kara-France, Lewis/Pavlovich and Ankalaev/Smith.

I fancy Moreno vs. Kara-France to finish the same as their first fight - Moreno decision win.

I sadly think mother time may have caught up with The Black Beast. Obviously he still has boulder fists but so does Pavlovich and I fancy him to knock out Lewis.

Ankalaev obviously heavy favourite but if anyone can soften his cough it's Smith, although I do think his chances are slim.

Looking forward to this, lots of good match-ups. Nunes, Kara-France, and Ankalaev are my picks in the three fights I'm interested in.

Couple of good fights so far. Morales looked good against an awkward opponent.

Nice to see Klose winning again after his time out with injuries.

Joselyn Edwards and Kim was a good fight too. I think they'll both win a lot of fights. Edwards won this one but only just. She looked way bigger than her opponent and she missed weight too.

I must be alone thinking Semelsberger won rounds two and three. He was behind in two but finished with powerful ground and pound which I thought won him the round. He clearly won round three. One judge had it 30-27 Morono.

What happened in the Lewis fight? I went to the jacks as Lewis's entrance music started and two minutes later when I returned they were doing a promo for the Moreno/France fight.

    Orange pilled.

Hmm, very early and unnecessary stoppage.

    Orange pilled.

Pena has the most bizarre fighting style.

She fights like a middle-aged housewife at a charity fight night.

Thoroughly enjoyed that main event. Nunes dominant but Pena is one tough cookie and had she been another foot away from the cage wall a couple of times could have subbed Nunes.

I'd have no problem watching them in a decider. It's the only real fight in the division, unless Shevchenko decides to jump back up for another go. She hasn't lost since the split decision loss when they last fought and has improved immeasurably.

Pena has my respect forever, she's so tough and got very close to an arm-bar. Nunes looked back to her best.

Moreno never disappoints, Kara-France gave him trouble in fairness. Pantoja looked great as well, it's a stacked division.

The guy I want to see lots more of is Abdelwahab. He needs to work on his gas tank but he could be a serious contender at heavyweight.

Nunes just looks way bigger and stronger. Adjusted her gas tank and won easy in the end.

Pena's only hope looked like a sub. Dana said she's gone to see a plastic surgeon specialist immediately after the fight.

Delighted to see Nunes back to her best. Pena is seriously tough, dropped 5 times and looked out at one point for a split second, but that really was one-way traffic.

If Amanda continues to show up it's hard to see many others in the rankings surviving that.

Good performance from Nunez, I wonder how bad her knee was in the first fight & how much it effected her cardio, plus she was just back form Covid

A lot being made of Pena toughness which is great but she got absolutely dominated for 5 rounds, She was terrible, her game plan was pants & her technique was horrendous , Her only hope was Nunez would get tired of smashing her,

Found DC commentary very one sided towards Pena ,in reality she was just good at getting beat up

Yes she lost all five rounds badly but she was very close to an armbar.

Belal would be better off focusing on trying to finish one of his fights

I don't really think it's overly arrogant when Nunez beat the crap out of her in that fashion to be honest.

If anything, I admired the fact she maintained excellent composure and pace, and ensured it was complete, even dominion across all 25 minutes.

She probably could have stepped on the gas pedal and gotten a finish, but she played it safe and proved conclusively that the first fight was an anomaly.

It was an entertaining fight, but it was total destruction, and there's zero doubt now about who's the overwhelmingly superior fighter.

She tried here best to get a finish on more than one occasion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,940 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

I disagree with you , i think she tried her best in the first fight to get the finish in the second fight she had a chances to finish & didn't want to empty the tank

She could have got the finish but she was "afraid "to push for it just encase ,

Does it matter she completely dominate the fight & beat the pi*s out of Pena

DC & co where very Pena heavy in commentary she looked absolutely horse **** in that fight,

When Pena ran across & threw about 8 punches missing them all & then punched in the air was absolute embarrassing for a championship level fight ,

Could you imagine any another champion in the UFC with that bad technic

She was fighting the GOAT. It was clear in the first fight that Amanda wasn't right. She was back in great shape in the second fight.

Amanda certainly tried to finish her a few times in that fight. Anybody else, bar maybe Joanna Jedrzejczyk, would have been done after three rounds max.

Pena deserves credit for lasting it out but she was competely dominated similar to most that Amanda has faced.
