Advice on PIR sensor wiring

Hi all, I took down an old boiler house at the back of the house. On this there was a single wire coming out to to the old PIR sensor which was smashed to bits. I'm trying to wire in a new one but I only have live, neutral, earth and no switch live. The old sensor looks to have had the earth wired into the switch but this seems wrong. Any advice? Should I just put in an outdoor switch instead. Thanks

On pir sensor you have in: live and neutral and out: live only. Lot of sparks use earth as output live as they are using only 3 core cable. Neutral is the same on in and out. Pir sensor don't have connection for earth wire.
