    Hi,

I've read about this tax credit and think we're eligible since my wife has no income and minds our kids... We are jointly assessed and i see it available for me to add as a tax credit on revenue.ie when filling a tax return but not for my wife.

Can i add this even though im the one working?

Yes. If you're jointly assessed you are entitled to claim it. I'm in the same situation

No point in adding it for your wife as she has no income therefore pays no tax therefore wouldn't be able to use a tax credit. Instead you pay (up to) €1,600 less income tax (depending on your income).

I used to claim these credits, and same as yourselves we were jointly assessed, therefore it went onto my husband's online revenue account, not mine, and the additional tax credits were then added to his payroll
