HP Deskjet 2540 problem

my 2540 has developed a fault and running "finding and fixing problems", I get "Device error detected". Using Windows 10 with latest HP software and drivers. If I skip "Device status" all other aspects are okay and I can even print a test page,but I cannot scana photo or document. Any ideas?

Sounds like a scanner problem. Maybe bring it to a IT repair shop?
