Flights to Amsterdam - Have you flown recently ?

My son has to be in Utrecht at a fixed time/date mid August. No need to go into details.

We booked an Aer Lingus flight leaving Dublin 10.20am on the day he needs to be there. I decided to keep an eye on delays and cancellations to try get some confidence that he will make his appointment. I know this can never be 100% but from what I’m seeing it is a lot less likely.

I am seeing delays of over 2 hours at times (like yesterday) and many cancellations on EI flights to Amsterdam. So I am thinking we can no longer have any trust in Aer Lingus. I checked Ryanair and it appears that many of their flights to Amsterdam have been cancelled this week too. They don’t show up on the Dublin airport departures at all so you don’t see them as cancelled but if you look at Schipol Arrivals you can see the cancelled Ryanair flights.

With these disruptions we are looking at him flying the day before but from what I see of the disruptions I am unsure he would get there even then. Sorry for the long winded text.

Has anyone flown recently with either Aer Lingus or Ryanair to Amsterdam and had their flight cancelled? If so how soon after did you actually fly?

Any suggestions welcome.

I flew 2 weeks ago from Dublin to Amsterdam. My flight was delayed 2 hours which meant I missed my train and had to stay in Amsterdam that night.

Would he consider flying to Dusseldorf and taking the train?

Or Eindhoven with Ryanair.

Schipol is a disaster at the minute, which is why all the flights are cancelled or delayed.

Eindhoven is just as bad as Schiphol at the moment

More flights into Düsseldorf and they appear to actually fly and without big delays. Train journey not too bad either.

Out of interest, if you had an Amsterdam flight cancelled did you manage to get on the next flight out? Or how did it pan out for you?
