Do you ever know things will happen beforehand?

Couple of times this has happened to me.

Years ago as a younger man I had applied for a college course. Was quite disappointed not to be accepted.

It was quite a desirable course, so when I didnt get a place, I assumed that was it, have to move on now. Then a few weeks later I just felt that someone would drop out and I’d get it. I tried to put it out of my head, but for some entirely illogical reason I believed that would happen. And it did.

Some time after that I was going out for a few drinks with friends and had a strong belief that I’d meet a woman I knew and spend the night with her. I’d have been going to the same pub every week and hadn’t seen her in months, but somehow I just knew it would happen and it did.

Wonder do many people get moments like this, when they know something that seems very unlikely, is about to happen? And how does it work?
