I have several wild bird food plastic buckets. I'm already using one to store detergent, one for storing wool, and I've used another for growing a tomato plant. I'm just wondering if anyone has any clever ideas I could use them for. Storage seems to be the only thing coming to my mind, but what else?

Not much help regarding what to do with your buckets. But, I found buying bird feed by those buckets to be ridiculously expensive. Compare the cost of a 3k bucket to a 20k sack. Break it down. It's eye watering!

Also, whilst I found all sorts of uses for the White plastic, rectangular buckets I used to buy peanuts in? The opaque, round ones turn brittle. I'm wary of moving liquids in those. Always the danger that one day ye'll put it down and the bottom will just crack.

So, yeah; Solid white plastic? Useful all round light duty buckets. Dog water. Plant pots. General, light weight totes about the place. Just brutally cost ineffective.

Round, semi transparent things we see seed, peanuts and fat balls in? Horrible things.

Buy a 20k pet food bin and start buying seed in sacks. Same for peanuts.

Yep, we did find them expensive all right and we buy the sacks now but I'm left with half a dozen of the buckets. Thanks for the advice.

Those buckets are useful if you are doing some decorating, especially as they have good tight fitting lids. I keep a few for this purpose, they're good for mixing paint, espicially if painting a couple of rooms at a time with different colours etc. I also use them to store brushes and roller sleeves in when the job is done. Ditto on the larger sacks of nuts and bird seed, much more economical!
