Is if possible to take up temporary work in UK (6 month contract) and remain in an Irish council dwelling.

Paying Irish tax and returning at weekends etc. Anyone have an idea?

Whilst not too knowledgeable on council housing , I'd see absolutely no reason why this would be an issue at all , presuming of course your not in receipt of a Jobseekers payment , even a part time one as there's conditions re travelling outside the state

There's many folks work away from home in council housing for a few days a week and your maintaining a presence weekly .

Obviously if someone were to head off fully for an extended period with no presence maintained, that may be different matter. Your entitled to go were your work requires you to go and it's a temporary arrangement.

I'd look at your agreement to to be sure and also check your home insurance situation also, this may need checking if no one is in your home for extended periods.

    Good luck .
