and was serving a 10 year ban from driving when caught ..................... so the judge slaps him very gently on the wrist with a feather duster.

No mention of a fine, but a five month stay in prison - probably reduced by 25% for 'good behaviour' - if he's not let out before that due to overcrowding. Plus a further 12 year driving ban which probably means absolutely nothing given that he paid no attention to the previous ban.

    Why isn't his car confiscated?

Why isn't he fined a multiple of the motor insurance that he evaded?

What's the point in bothering to pay motor insurance when complete and utter pond lives can get away with crap like this?

Why isn't his car confiscated? He'd just find another one, these people always have money for a banger. Also, it would have been when he was arrested, and he would have to either a: pay for costs, show legal insurance, tax, nct and get someone licensed to drive it away, or b: pay costs and have it towed away. Doesn't seem like a person who likes to pay for much.

Why isn't he fined a multiple of the motor insurance that he evaded? He wouldn't pay it anyway

What's the point in bothering to pay motor insurance when complete and utter pond lives can get away with crap like this? Because he's just lucky he hasn't hit anyone (that I'm aware of). Insurance is for that.

But at the same time, what can we now do? Even if he's fined for everything he has, he just becomes a further burden on the state due to now needing the state to pay for everything, if they're not already. Can't kick him out on the street, because bleeding hearts. I'm sure someone else is to blame in all of this also, because that's what current times are all about. Probably had a hard upbringing too, broad and all as that is. Fact of life is, people like this exist and always will, and our soft country can't/won't do anything about it, because feelings.

Since when is going to prison getting away with it?

Have you seen the tip he lives in? A few months' vacation in a cushy prison like Loughan House is a significant upgrade in lifestyle.

We need a fleet of mobile car crushers.

Rogue driver found driving without a licence / unaccompanied learner / banned or uninsured etc then the mobile car crusher is called, turns up and crushes the car on the spot. Invoice handed to the rogue driver.

It's highly likely car was Siezed and on multiple occasions , Clearly he's either just buying cheap cars or getting car siezed collected from car pound.

At a minimum if stopped and insurance cover can't be confirmed or Driver discovered to be disqualified, Car is Seized, that said whilst stats show Car Seizures are very High , if this chap, who's clearly on the Garda radar, hasn't had car Seized on multiple occasions, that would be alarming.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

Know the area. Often see the armed response unit around there.

There is a family there that all Garda interaction with them is by armed units.

Just chop his hands and feet off, he won't be able to do it again then.

A bit extreme. Gouging his eyes out would be a lot easier.
