Hi guys. My VW passat went into 'limp mode' yesterday, managed to get it to my mechanic who informed me that the DPF filter is clogged, by all accounts it's going to cost a lot to fix. What options are available to me without getting the mechanic to deal with it? Thanks in advance 😁

You can take it out and wash it with acid. You either do it or get the mechanic to do it and/or send it away for cleaning. The other option is a new filter but no idea what year/ Kms are on your car so washing could be a cheaper option. You also need to make sure that there is no underlining issue and the filter been full of ash is the actual problem.

It might also be a once off so a regen might sort it. It really is a bit of trial and error
