    Hi,

Bought a silverline 4225 ( https://silverline.com/en/products.asp?id=51&pid=407 ) Cooker Hood with external motor when building our house. Bought in UK and distributor there is gone since . The fan has never worked, tested the capacitor and it reads OK. Check wiring and it looks OK also, any other suggestions ? Is it worth getting someone out to check, or just too exprensive ?

You say you checked the capacitor, I m wondering why you didn’t go further. It most likely has a lead with plugtop, check where the lead is terminated for 230ac, it will then go through an on/off switch ,again check if the switch is working, it probably has a number of fan speeds leading to the coils of the motor. You must have a meter seeing that you checked the cap so set your meter on continuity and check it out . When you switch it on for extraction if you hear a hum then either the capacitor or the windings are duff.
