1.5 Nissan Almera car insurance. Last year cost 405.58, this year, 840.04

Please tell me how they can justify this.

    What's going on out there?

Well insurances don't reward loyalty and constantly raise your premium if you are to lazy to switch.

Rising renewal prices above what new customers get quoted will soon be illegal

I find that insurance companies often seem to use a random number generator to come up with quotes.

Shop around OP and get a better quote. Once you get one, and if you are bothered, you can call your current insurer and ask them to match it. If they don't, just walk away and go elsewhere. Loyalty gets you nowhere these days, and it is not just for insurance either.

There's no obligation for a renewal to be competitive. They don't want your business O.P.

    Go elsewhere.
