Washing machine thinks no water

My washing machine sometimes thinks it has no water supply. It's only 3 years old, Hotpoint Invertermotor 8kg. As the name suggests it's supposed to be able to wash an 8kg load, but if I put anything more than a jumper, a t shirt and a few pairs of socks in it, mid way through the wash cycle it will suddenly stop with "no water supply" error flashing. Ironically, this happens when it's already full of water, but it never happens if I keep the load size down to what I said above.

Any ideas? Hotpoint engineer came months ago, supposedly checked the reported fault, serviced it and left. Nothing changed. And incidentally just to confirm, there is nothing actually wrong with the water supply.

with a large load it will need to top up a few times as the load soaks up the water, it sounds as though it is running out of time because of water pressure, the first thing you need to check are the filters at the solenoid end and at the tap end of the hose to see if they are dirty. Often an indicator of low pressure is detergent not being washed out of the soap box completely. Also check your waste hose position, the stand pipe should be approx nearly as high as the wm and the hose end when pushed down should be higher than the center of the drum otherwise it will siphon and loose its level
