I am getting connected to eir fibre in 5 weeks and need to share the connection with my sons cottage which is about 50m from our house , I have run an ethernet cable between both and have bought an eero 6 router and extender for my sons cottage ,

can i just put the eero router in bridge mode and leave the wireless turned on in the eir router ? or will i have to buy more eero extenders for the main house and turn off the wifi on the eir router , sorry for the stupid questions and thanks for any advice , just want to make sure I have everything sorted before fibre install and experience real broadband instead of having to tether off phones for the last decade 😁

Is that the eero mesh system?

If so, eero will handle it. Just plug the first box directly into your router in your house. Then plug the lan cable connecting the cottage into the second port on the eero in your house.

And in the cottage plug the other end of the cable into the second eero box.

That's it. Eero will sync, take the internet from the router and make a single WiFi connection across both homes.

You can then just connect to the eero WiFi and walk from one house to the other without swapping connections.

You can leave on the eir WiFi, mine is and it makes no difference. I've a 500mb line and I'll get 450mb upstairs on WiFi through eero.

I tried setting the bridge as I read online that you had to, but I just ended up losing internet 🤣.

I left it alone and it worked so stopped fiddling with it.

You can add extra eero's down the line. They work best plugged in but can also act as a WiFi extender. So if a far away bedroom had no signal you could put a third eero half way between the main eero and the room and it will boost the signal.

They are great though. I've had mine for over a year and no reboots needed. They just work away.

I might pick up another couple if they reduce the price on prime day , thanks for the info

This isn’t really a typical mesh network use case. You could just have any wifi access point in your sons house, running a separate wifi ssid. There’s shouldn’t be any issue with overlap at that distance.

Hello. Hope someone can advise for the eero setup with Eir modem

    i got a main router & 2 extenders

tried setting up as per the app, but no joy. I get the below IP error

I logged into model and set bridging as on, followed the app again but no joy.

has anyone else had similar issues setting up the eero

I think the first time I plugged them all in at the same time in the same room and via cables in a daisy chain (modem to first eero, first connected to second and second to third) to let them get online create the mesh and update.

Are you going to use them wirelessly or will they be plugged in via lan cable?

    Thanks

I’ll be using them wireless, i got a pack with one lan plug and the other 2 only have a power port.

im only trying to setup the first one which is connected to the Eir modem/WiFi box

i can also login to the Eir modem.

it seems the eero cannot either get the Eir modem IP address, or cannot register the eero IP address with the Eir modem.
