Decking Tiles

I recently bought some decking tiles without thinking of where I was going to put them. Seems the best place to put them would be over grass.

Put directly on the grass they’re a bit uneven, as expected. What would be the best (and most cost efficient) way to sort this? We’re only renting and not expecting them to last us years. If we got a couple of summers out of them we’d be happy.

Some ideas I had was to dig up the grass in this area and try level with fine gravel or put a couple of sheets of board or corriboard down on top of the grass to kill the grass and make it level for the tiles. I’ve a small piece of wood there that I tried this with today and they were even and didn’t slip but I don’t know if this would last?

    Open to any suggestions. Thanks

I would ask the landlord first.

    What size are the tiles?

Thanks for the reply. All cleared with the landlord.

The tiles are 30x30cm and the total area is 10x6ft.

If it is a temporary job and you want to take your tiles to

another place , then I would suggest setting them on

the lawn on a screed of sand.

    Otherwise do as you say.

I honestly don't see how this is going to work without either building a deck or completely destroying the lawn.

I would sell the tiles and put it down to experience.

Thanks for the replies. Decided to lay them on the concrete directly outside the back door. Don't think it’s worth the hassle to do what I originally planned.
