Advice on removing rivets?

Hi, I’m in the process of reconditioning some oak garden furniture. I’m done the table and moved onto the chairs but they seem to have some kind of rivet(?) holding them together.

I’ve not come across these things before and wonder does anyone have any advice on how to removed them?

They are pictured below. Thanks for the advice in advance.

The same as you'd handle the rivets when changing a shovel handle?

Grind/file off one end of the rivet, knock it out, replace with a new rivet.

drill them out and replace them with a bolt and dome nut as above

Thanks for the advice folks - I've tried to hammer out the one that snapped (due to rust) and it's a big solid rivet rusted into the wood. God help me with the rest of them...
