iPad Pro 10.5 inch. Is the LCD failing, or is it something else?

A month or two I noticed the iPad seem to be sort of locking itself randomly. For example, I'd be casting something to the tv and it would seem like it had locked and the screen would be unresponsive. Usually, pressing the power button and entering the passcode turned on the screen/made it responsive again. I sort of assumed it was down to iOS 15.5, or something along those lines.

Over time, though, it has gotten worse and it has become apparent that the screen may actually be the issue. At times, say I'm watching something on VLC player, the screen will go black and completely unresponsive, but still backlit and the audio will continue playing albeit there's no picture on the screen. Pressing either the home button or power button separately does nothing. To get it working again I seem to have to hold the power button and home button until the Apple logo appears. Sometimes it doesn't work and nothing happens on-screen and I have to leave it alone for a bit before doing the same process.

At times it goes days without happening, others it happens a good few times in a row, making the iPad unuseable. Any ideas? I have:

    a. Tried power cycling

    b. Restored the iPad to factory settings

    c. Given the iPad a bit of a bang on the back, for the below reason:

A few people online have suggested that the LCD display cable(s) may have become dislodged slightly if the iPad is dropped (I don't recall dropping it myself, but I have two young kids, so it's not unimaginable). One of the suggested remedies is giving it a bit of a whack on the backk, which didn't seem to do anything. Obviously, opening it up is bit of an arseache between having to heat/cut through the adhesive etc., but worth it to avoid having to buy a new one. If that doesn't solve it, not sure I'm bothered paying for a new screen.
