This is a little game for anyone interested - pick an Irish Town or city and then find another city or town anywhere in the world but it has to be on the exact same (within 5 km) latitude OR longitude as your Irish choice. 🌍🗺

Then post a few facts on the place. 😁👍👍

First up - Roscrea, County Tipperary...

...is on the same latitude as Mohe in China, its northernmost city. Mohe has a population of 83,000 (about the same as Galway city) but is located deep in a boreal forest plateau on the border with Siberia where the climate is sub-arctic and average January temperatures plunge below -25 C. 🏯 🇨🇳 🥶🥶🥶

More here on Mohe, level with Roscrea...

Ireland must be the mildest place on earth for the latitude, amazing some of the places we're as North as.

    Another one:-

    Athlone, County Westmeath...

...is almost exactly on the same longitude as the historic city of Marrakesh, Morocco.

Marrakesh has a population of just under 1 million, is the fourth largest city in Morocco, was a firm favourite on the Hippie Trail in the 1960s and 70s and today is a popular tourist destination known for its UNESCO world heritage designation of its Medina and its large open air market.
