    Hi,

My car failed NCT there for reversing lights and a torn CV boot. I had a torn CV boot before and they did a free visual test but the inspector was telling me it needed a full re test. Is that right? A full re test for a torn CV boot..

    Thanks

It will say on your NCT sheet weather its a visual or if a new appointment is needed. A CV boot has always required an appointment for me

To change the CV boot you are going to have to pull things apart that will affect the tracking so they want to check that again when you replace it.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Ah it says retest and retest fee of 28. Just odd cause I defo changed a boot myself before and the guy just did a visual, prob 2 years ago

Strange that this was just a visual 2 years ago, normally anything requiring some work on the suspension would warrant a retest fee.

    Understandably tbh.

One cv boot and reverse light is not a bad result anyway. Sure 28 euro hurts, but at least nothing to worry about for next year or two.

Generally if it has to go on the ramp, it's a full retest. Visuals are generally done in the car park.
