Some details on this finally dropped from the horses Neil Druckmann's mouth.
What was originally the multiplayer for TLOU2 evolved into a much larger, standalone game - apparently as big as any other Naughty Dog game - with its own story and new characters.
Here's the concept art released today, showing infected roaming the streets of San Francisco, and players working together.
Details regarding The Last of Us multiplayer game ("Factions") from Jeff Grubb
Jeff Grubb said:
They're making a standalone multiplayer game that is not Factions. It's gonna be very, very live service-y. They're building all the services in so they can, like, swap in huge parts of it in and out. Like, that's what they've been working on and trying to make it bigger and bigger and more ambitious.
It's also known that Playstation want to get into Live service games. To me, this sounds like they want to make a game like Fortnite, that changes the game map every few months and sell loads of customization items
It'll be hard to shoehorn Darth Vader and Thanos into TLOU!
This could be really really special. Factions is still one of the best multiplayer games out there but it was so limited. That tacked on with pve, base building, surviving and ongoing story could just be epic. Hands down my most hyped game adjust for 23, just wish we got some more details on it.
I'm not sure if confirmed but i highly doubt Factions will be part of TLOU 1 remake which would be such a pity as it would give players a taster of their multiplayer but I'm sure they'd rather a full team working on the new one.
Something like Tarkov in TLOU's universe could work well.
It'll probably be microtransactioned to death.
They’ve said TLOU1 is single-player so no Factions. €80 and you don’t even get all the features of TLOU Remastered 😐
Yeah, I'm interested to see their approach to that side of it. With it being Sony's first foray into GaaS, they may take a more conservative approach... But the pessimist in me says capitalism's gonna capitalism.
Sony charge €80 for first party exclusives...
Indeed. Personally I'll just wait and see.
Doesn't GT7 combine the 2? A full price game with microtransactions
