Spoke snapped off wheel

Spoke snapped off my bike this morning when I was out and about.

The wheels are fairly pricey (Mavic Ksyrium Pro). Can the spoke be reattached or is it a case of just buying a new wheel?

My LBS is Duffs in Omni and I don't know if they would be the best place to bring it to let them check it out.

    Thanks

yes, putting a new spoke on should be straightforward. how old are the wheels?

you might also be near humphries in finglas and they've a good reputation as wheelbuilders.

Why is that nipple bronze while the rest are black? Was it previously replaced?

The wheels are about 5 years old. Ideally I don't want to replace them but if I have to I will. The bike isn't getting used much these days.

The spoke is bronze because I think that's just part of the wheel design?

i paid €15 to have a spoke replaced about 5 years ago in humphries. not sure how much they're charging now (it wasn't a ksyrium pro wheel either)

Ah thanks lads. I appreciate that. I was having a panic attack thinking I was going to have to pay crazy money for new wheels!!!

How long can one expect to get out of a set of wheels?

for rim brake wheels, (bar crash damage) it's usually the rim wearing away from breaking, or the hub seizing up which would finish a wheel. if the brake tracks aren't badly worn on that, it's well worth stumping up for a new spoke.

I think I paid €20 for a Ksyrium slr bladed spoke and wheel balancing in wheelworx. It was done there and then No more than 20 mins browsing.
