So im contemplating moving to and working in Australia in my specialised career of mental health for 2/3 years to save for a mortgage as a single person for when I return back to Ireland. However I'm not sure how much I'll be taxed and wondering if its a feasible idea for anyone who has experience in this? TIA

Have you considered the Middle East? Fairly tax-free there I think.

That's about the extent of my knowledge, but I have read about a lot of people going there with your plan - 2/3 years, save hard, come home.

Do some research on countries there with openings for your qualifications.

The ME is *nothing* like Oz, but rewards are much better.

For starters, you would probably be living in a Western compound/ complex, and the social circle will be other ex-pats.

There is an Australia forum here afaik.

Thank you, I guess the downside will always be having to pay Irish tax while abroad🙄

I would have thought that no tax should be due here if you have transferred your residence abroad.

Anyway, check it all out. Look into double taxation agreements as well.

I might have misinterpreted it, it appears tax applies to business ownership so potentially happy days 🤞 thank you
