    Hi All

I'm relatively new to sewing/quilting and have a few tweed piles which I would like to make into a (picnic) blanket for quilting. I have cut them out into 5.5inch squares to allow a quarter inch seam allowance on all sides.

I have a few questions on this and would appreciate any help:

1: Do I sew the squares in blocks of 4 or do a line of them and then sew the lines together or does it matter? (I should mention that I'm doing it in a 'diamond' layout)

2: What size machine needle do I need for sewing tweed?

3: Do I need a special foot for it? Will a walking foot do?

4: Any other pointers would be welcome as I've never sewn tweed before!

    Thanks a mil
