CF ammunition price increase

Just noticed S&B fmj 55gr 100 box has increased in price from 65 to 89 a box.The same brand in softpoint has gone up by €30 a box of 100.Also fiocchi 55gr epn has seemed to disappear from looking and ringing around.

Also hornady frontier ammunition has anyone else had a fair few dud rounds and some that needed double or triple striking,I've found it poor enough for ammo that is fairly expensive.Also why does the brass look like it's used brass as it looks so discoloured.

Well I actually found some of the fiocchi epn yesterday in Kildare,not much left and its being sold at 50 a box but was told that is the old stock and when new stock eventually comes in it will probably be a good bit dearer.

Also see Lakelands are selling fiocchi 55gr fmj not fmj HP for €30 for 50 so for 100 delivered it's €68 only tried the fmj HP and it was ok not great maybe this could be better.

Was on the range recently and same problem with frontier. Had 3 failed to fire out of 15. Not gonna use it again. All primers were struck well.

Which I whole heartily agree with, sellers/dealers have to make ends meet also but there is profit and profiteering.

Just look at the price of fuel, hotel rooms and car hire as an example, car hire is stupid crazy at the moment, heard on radio lately, 35K for 28 days car hire.

ROI (Rip Off Ireland) is alive and well.

I think it is like the petrol stations, if they buy the stock at one price it has to be sold for more than that to make it profit, if they buy at a higher price they must add that onto the customer unfortunately. I wouldn't even comment but I got some ammo at a discounted price from the same dealer last week so he was definitely not trying to gouge. Seems to be universal price hikes and shortages in ammo around the country, like most commodities. Wish I had of put higher ammo count on license so I could buy more in bulk.

Yeh. SK Rifle Match is my preferred ammo but at those prices I’ve defaulted to CCI.

on CF ammo, can’t find Hornady Steel Match .308 anywhere. Is the stuff still being manufactured…..?

You can bulk buy as much as you like. Just take in smaller lots from your dealer.

I know this thread is about centrefire ammo but smallbore ammo has gone up too. This weekend, CCI has gone from 5.50 a box to 6.50 a box (50 rounds) in my local shooting haunt.

Hazmat shipping for ammo is cost prohibitive for our licence amounts from what I've seen.

Open to correction though if you(or anyone) knows an accommodating dealer and/or hazmat courier.

Was up in Cill Dara Hunting they have .223 American Eagle for much less for box of 20. Once that batch goes they will be back to high prices I think. Fill your boots lol

Yeah American eagle ar223 55gr,€9 a box or €8 if you buy 500.Great price licence wouldn't cover 500 so picked up what I could.Also hornady match steel case 50 for €35 and all CCI, fiocchi and others in stock.Never asked if they post but at that price ring them

Thank you for the heads up on that, my Remington R15VTR loves this stuff and gives super groups which for American Eagle is not always the case. Just called CillDara and they still have some left but at slightly higher price, they are under new ownership and Neil was a sound man to deal with. He seems to have an assortment of ammo at the old prices but limited stock, so worth a try before it is all gone?

John is about but taking a back seat as new owners are in process of taking over.
