    Hi folks,

    Really appreciate any advice please,

2017 Superb -DSG - 57kms- Got two intermittent engine overheating warnings in last 2 months,-2nd time was last week, after only 25 mins driving normally, checked- coolant was right up to too of the expansion bottle ( opened it super slowly) oil ok, no obvious issues, leaks or fluids, also no major 'heat' evident either.

Have heard previous issues with water pump and plastic propellers (?)

Car always serviced, dont act the maggot in it driving wise,

It's due a service in August ( time interval not mileage driven )

Any ideas?💡 was thinking of buying a Diagnostic Tool OBD scanner,a friend has a Mazda 6 2015'so was wondering if there was one that works on all major makes( think Mazda use a different one though not sure)

    Thanks very much !

Defo water pump on the skoda.

Any generic OBD tool should read engine faults on all makes.

Reading certain control units ABS, Airbag may need something a bit better depending on manufacturer.

Thanks for that. Stone broke ☹️ but needs sorting.

Have seen lots on here and elsewhere for different types of Diagnostic tools, any decent all rounders ? ( That don't require credits etc )

Keep in mind there are OBD codes which any reader will read and manufacturer specific codes which a generic reader wont read, you need something more advanced. So you can have 0 codes on your cheap OBD reader but in reality may have 5 or 10 manufacturer codes stored that that tool just cant read.

Any recommendations that would work across most major brands ? (Excl BM/MB)

What's your budget and what features do you need?

100-150 max, hopefully one will be able to read and clear codes from:

    -ABS

    -SRS

    -Engine

    -Transmission

    ( Anything else I missed ?)

Specifically for Skoda /VAG / Mazda

    Thanks 👍

Something like the Autel Maxicheck Pro might suit you if you can stretch a tiny bit. If those are the only marques you want you could checkout OBD Eleven (Good for all VAG cars) and forScan which is free and works with a cheap cable for Ford and Mazda
