THE permanent closure of the level crossing at Bray Train Station is being considered as part of major plans to improve the Dart network.

The possible closure of the level crossing is being looked at as part of the development of the Dart+ Coastal South project.

    Any thoughts?

I don't see how this is needed as trains/Darts have priority, they never have to stop and wait for gates to close...

It would be a complete disaster. Its function as the primary connecting road from Bray Main Street to the sea front would render its closure incredibly disruptive to all non-rail travel. It could be made workable if the bridges between it and the Putland Road were raised to a height that would make them bus friendly. However, that's a whole different can of worms though.

I heard that the intention is to link it in with the proposed (hopefully doomed) transport bridge development. Redevelop the grass area at Seapoint Court and lower/redirect the road under the bridge there to get buses onto seafront.

    Don't see how that works.

Not sure what happens then. Buses terminate on the road between Hibernia and Platform Pizza?
