Neighbours planning permission

    Hi all,

We bought a house 2 years ago, there is a narrow strip of garden beside us that we do not own and has recently been sold with planning permission.

We rented back the house to the owners for a year as their plan was to live in our house and then build beside - this didn't go to plan and they have sold the land this month.

The planning permission is still in place for a small house that is connected to ours from the upper storey - a shared lane and a shared driveway- we also bought our existing home with planning permission for a large double extension and the new house plans (next door) are all supposed to tie in together.

We are not in a position to do any extension at the moment and have been told that a large support beam will be in our garden until we do an extension. There is also the possibility that a wall may need to be knocked in our bathroom as not load bearing -We bought the house knowing about the plans but we did expect for the house to be built by the time we got into it we also had every intention of doing an extension but due to our current circumstances its not an option at the moment and may not be any time soon

I am just wondering do we have any argument when it comes to attaching the house to ours now (there is no boundary wall and it is possible to build a detached property just obviously smaller ).

We also have concerns over site access which will obviously be the shared driveway -parking safety etc as this wasn't something we had pre-empted when buying the house as we had expected it to be done by the time we moved in.

Important to say - we are not objecting to the build in the slightest- we where always aware of the plans just circumstances have changed - interested to know if the plans for the property next door are dependent on our house either an extension/support beam is it possible to refuse an adjoining property this late

    Thankyou
