I've found TNT Express to be good. I used them through irishparcels.ie (no affiliation).

I sent a watch to Romania with fast delivery and no dramas.

DHL Express. Not sure if they're the cheapest but it's easy.

Apologies for reviving this thread .

I need to courier a watch to Spain for repair .

An post refused as it has a battery. A quote i got from DHL was over 200.

UPS seemed reasonable but watches over 500 dollars in value seem to be prohibited, I rang their customer service , they were more concerned about the battery and sent me a doc explaining what batteries could be sent, which is grand except i don't know what type of battery is in it and if I open the watch the warranty is void.

As suggested I might try tnt , anyone else encountered this ?

I used TNT Express to send a watch worth less than 2k to Romania. Very reasonable, peace of mind and two day delivery. The buyer was gobsmacked when it turned up as quick as it did.

You can use a search service like Irishparcels.ie to get a price across a few providers. But it's often as well to go direct.

The higher the insurance you want the more expensive it gets.

Over 200 seems steep unless the watch is valued at 5 figures. Might make sense to mix and match by sending with one company, and insuring with another: Online Parcel Insurance – Save up to 70% | Secursus
