Buying a new Car

I may be in the market for a new car. I have never bought new before always second hand.

Any tips or advice for dealing with the main dealer. I see in the UK you have websites like carwow where dealers will bid for your business and give you a reduction on the published retail price. Is there much room for haggling on the price of a new car in Ireland?

You will be very lucky to find a brand new car in stock at present, never mind getting anything in the way of discount.

Chip shortage, Covid, supply chain disrupted by the war in Ukraine, etc. Take your pick regarding why they are in short supply. Dealers don't really need to offer any discount when stock does come in because they know there are plenty of people out there to buy it if you don't.

Most new orders have been pushed out to next year at this point unless it's something that nobody wants. Prices not locked down either because they are increasing frequently too.
