Fence Issues

    Hey guys,

Is there anyway to paint a vertical latted fence panel without it dripping through to the neighbors fence.

We have been is a dispute with her now for two summers about this fecking fence. She wants to go from dark oak to grey and will not budge on the colour choice, we are open to suggestions but no it has to be grey on her side.

I suggested we paint ours a teal colour before she gets hers painted as she is going from dark oak to silver will need multiple coats and should cover up any teal that gets through.

Advice greatly appreciated as we are at our wits end

Build your own fence then paint it whatever you like.

How big a fence ? Masking tape on your side ? A sprayer on a calm day ?

If she's painting her side and you're painting yours there's going to a bit go through what-ever ,

Actually if you get a large roll of brown paper and tack it or staple it tightly on your side the your neighbour can paint away to her hearts content , and then do it in reverse staple the paper on your side and off you go ,

Was round her side after I posted this message. It will go through there's gaps in it. We are both painting so she was told to let me know a week or so before she paints hers and I'll paint mine. She wasn't happy because she didn't want to be looking at teal (from her upstairs window at my garden when we are having a few on a hot evening).

Still offered to powerwash her fence before she paints as she is going from black to light grey so think it's ok.

Another reason why people shouldn't paint fences. Gardens should be decorated with plants, not paints.

Just be careful and touch up any overspill.

How can you not paint a fence without having drips?

Just be careful. It's not hard.

There’ll be no drips if you don’t paint it.

Try use a short-to-medium depth roller and don't overload it.

I don't understand the issue. Is this hit-and-miss fencing?

You paint your side whatever colour you want, she paints her side whatever colour she wants. There will inevitably be a few drips through to the other side, and these can be easily touched up afterward. Since you're both painting, you're both going to have some paint left to do this.

If she's unhappy that she can see the rest of your fence from her upstairs then she's a lunatic. You're painting it teal, not luminous pink, she'll just have to get over it.

Thank you she is just a pain in the hole to live beside. I'm overthinking it.

Definitely over thinking it. Since you’re doing yours first she won’t have to do any touch ups, so she’s getting it easier.
