I did a hike last year with someone who was so enthusiastic about this event that I went home that evening & signed up! Getting close now so wondering if anyone has done it & would have tips?

I did it in 2018, a brilliant experience. The weather is very changeable. Warm Sunshine one minute, winter like rain the next. It is a pretty small town but lots of nice bars and restaurants. There is a cable car that brings you up to a Mountain which offers amazing views of Tromso. I was up there at 12 midnight and the Sun was blazing!

I did it in 2010 and it was a great experience. From what I recall the bridge was the main "hill" on the course. The course itself is very scenic, and there was good support when you run through the city... particularly on the home stretch, when a lot of the locals were spilling out of the pubs at about 2am on a Saturday night! Snow-capped mountains surround the city, but the route itself stays in the valley. They made us run out to the airport to make up the miles, that section was a bit boring. Timing your meals was something to be aware of... I think we went with spaghetti bolognese at about 5pm on the day of the race. It lashed rain and was about 5 degrees when we did it, so afraid we didn't see much sun, midnight or otherwise! Best of luck and enjoy!

All went well in Tromso, as gaf1983 said, the only hill really is the the bridge although it does roll a bit on the out & back to airport. I was fairly lucky weather wise as it was 17C during the day & didn't drop below 10ish after midnight. It did cloud up during the run so didn't get the midnight sun effect! The pic below is from the start line.

Also it was the first time I've done a breakfast run where they was actually a free breakfast as the end of it 😊

Not sure I'll be going back for the Winter equivalent as Norway is a ferociously expensive place to visit.

Glad you enjoyed the run - looks like you got better weather than we did! But yep, it's certainly an expensive place to spend any length of time in.
