Fertilising New Grass

Hi Folks - I had some work done here at home and needed to lay new seed. I got 20 Tonne of screened topsoil (It spread out like butter as it was dry) I have green shoots now so my questions is should I get some sort of fertilizer or weed and feed to potentially remove any weeds that may have been on the topsoil?

Luckily we have gotten some rain the last few days here along with warmer temperatures so it seems to have kickedoff the growth.

Any advice woudl be appreciated

Leave it be and be patient. Fertiliser will damage it. Pull the big weeds by hand, keep the seed bed moist and cut on the highest setting when it gets to 3-4 inches to encourage growth. Be patient.

ya makes sense - we have had rain daily here for the last few days mixed with sun so hopefully the greens shoot will multiply - I was going to put out more seed on the top of the soil to ensure that it grows but to your point ill wait and see what happens with what I have down

It's perfect weather for a new lawn to thrive. Scattering a bit of seed in bald patches won't do any harm but you'll be amazed at how much it comes on in the next few weeks. Hope it works out.
