I wondered can you re gas the AC yourself, or is it really a job for professionals, I'm near terenure, is there somewhere around here that does it, and any idea the price?

I saw 100 euro as a price on Quick Fit, wondered has anyone bought and done selves?

Buy the air con re-gas kit by STP in halfords, probably will cost around 90 euro but you'll get the canister which will do 3 or 4 cars. And the nozzle with a quick release fitting for the low pressure air con pipe and a gauge on it, it's very easy to do once you know the basics, re-gassed my girlfriends car 2 years ago with it and it's still blowing cold.

You will get a better and more thorough job done by a garage with the right equipment that can empty the air con system and then refill it. But what I've mentioned above works fine

I would go to this place in Park West, very knowledgeable and reasonably priced. Regas is €60 and they will test the system as it goes in.

Cheers lads, I like the idea of giving it a go myself, seems easy enough and I might go halves with a pal who wants to do his too.

You'll be perfectly happy with the results, just make sure to follow the instructions correctly. There is a few things that help such as keeping the bottle upright as you squeeze the trigger and tilting it 90 degrees or so every few seconds.

A mistake I made was to try to bring it to the top of the green level on the gauge, but it just wasted some of the gas, once the gauge shows it in the green level area I'd leave it at that

Seemed to work, but I heard a hissing sound from the valve that I put the new gas into, so I think that valve is leaking, I'll check it again in an a bit.

How much would be in total typically for a garage to Re-gas?

€90 but probably €100 in this day and age.
