Hi ive been claiming carers for the last few months even though I'm not caring for the the person anymore. I can't afford to come off it due to the wait time for jsa. What are the chances they will find out

There's no wait time for transfer from Carers to JSA. Has the caree passed away or is there someone else caring for them?

Either way, it's fraud and you will be found out, sooner rather than later, I hope. You give genuine carers a bad name.

life isnt black or white, theres clearly major black holes in our welfare system, in regards switching over, some on welfare hesitate to do so as we all simply need money to survive, many on welfare truly do survive week to week, and any break in payment can cause serious problems for some.....

...but again, people dont actually need judgement and criticism from strangers on the internets, particular about such things, you ll find most welfare recipients are generally in very precarious situations

I wouldn’t say they’re giving carers (I am one) a bad name at all. Life and finances are crap for us and when you’ve been living on a max of 219 a week, you’re gonna ask questions before losing a further 15 quid.

OP, you can claim carers for up to 12 weeks after your duties cease. Ring your social welfare office anonymously and see what they say about transfer times 😊

They're not necessarily committing fraud if they’re within the 12 week period. Also, if they’re like me and do not qualify for fuel allowance as I do not live with the person they care for, they may find that rather than owing money back for the weeks they’ve gone over, they are actually owed a backdated sum as JA gets fuel allowance 😂

PS: I’d also fight to get the respite grant that’s due to be paid in June. If you were caring for somebody in 2022 then you deserve it.

Yeah, wanderer but this is why applicants are so long waiting for their carers application to be processed. Because people want to cheat the system like this, then every application has to be checked throughly. Can you not understand this?

once again, people may not be wanting to 'cheat the system', they may in fact be anxious of losing money, and/or access to money, by changing between payments, leading them to 'cheat the system', in order to prevent this..... covid, and in particular pup payments, have clearly shown, our welfare system simply isnt fit for purpose, its clearly not enough to live on....

I'm not entirely sure there's an automatic entitlement to FA 🤔 isn't there a requirement to be on JS Payment for 15 months before being eligible 🤔

I’m sorry wanderer. It doesn’t matter WHY your cheating the system, your still cheating and it’s immoral because it means that the people who actually ARE qualified to get it have to wait longer, and get less.

Look at it this way. There’s a set amount of money put aside for Carers Allowance. If there weren’t so many people cheating then there would be more for the people who are genuine. And, the more people they catch out cheating the more stringent the examination to get it in the first place becomes.

Its vulnerable people who are the victims of the cheats wanderer. No one else.
