So finally got an 5.53kwh, 14 panel solar array. With solis s5 inverter. Got the app installed but only seeing what it is generating not what is consumed or sent to grid .

There is a smart meter in the setup. I think it ok the grid side. Need to talk with solar company tomorrow. But thought any one might know what setting I need to enable to see the consumption

Ah yes you have the straight Solis inverter not the hybrid version. Its only the hybrid version with the battery that will log your consumption or how much you are exporting. I have the same inverter (I presume its a 6kW version) and I went down the Home Assistant route and do all the logging independently of the inverter because it didn't do it.

What you will find also is that the Solis only reports every 5 or 6 minutes so you don't get instantaneous numbers. My setup is a Raspberry Pi4 with Home Assistant and then a couple of ShellyEMs logging a few key circuits in the house. Don't know how much you want to delve into this but once you have the data using something like Grafana in HA will give you more insight into your usage. See below my power usage today and I can see instantaneously my PV, when I'm exporting etc.

I am no expert or programmer but once you are set up you can have graphs set up to spot trends, graph below is moving 7 day average of my ESB incomer to smooth out the ups and downs.

That is disappointing. I liked how it was all in one app. Wonder why it only in the hybrid version.?

Will look into home automation. Thanks

The hybrid needs to monitor the grid so it knows when to charge and discharge the battery.

You get the house load monitoring as a side effect of that

    Any off shelf options?

Shelly EM is used a lot, especially if you have home assistant

    I use an emonpi/emontx

Non hybrid Solis inverter also has an option to connect meter to it. There is a dedicated port for it on inverter. Once meter added it should push data to solis cloud.

Yes, that is the one. I do not have non-hybrid inverter so cannot tell how much infor it would provide. But placing meter on grid side should show you how much you import/export on the app.
