The lid of a tin of water-based paint has been damaged.

Can I use clingfilm and rubber bands to seal it/cover it?

    Thanks.

    D.

Cling film isn't much of a seal considering how easy it is to pop, especially when under tension.

I've often used it to cover paint cans and buckets overnight, or even a couple of days. I don't bother with rubber bands, just wrap it ariynd the entire can a couple of times. IMO it gives a very good seal, but is obviously easy to damage.

If I was in your situation my first thought would be to try and use a different container. I regularly use small resealable containers to save remaining paint for touching up. Another option would be to wrap the paint tin with cling film many times to increase the durability.
