I may have a sigma rox 12 in a while. Having been through wahoo and garmins this is a great device ( if a little German at times) Only thing I have seen to beat it is garmin 1000 or Karoo 2

That's after leading me down a rabbit hole of Sigma, I'd never heard of the brand.

If you were selling woukd it be with the sensors and have you an idea of how much you'd be looking for?

Thank you to @fat bloke for meeting yesterday.

Can anyone explain the benefits of connecting sensors to the Garmin device? Am I correct in saying the unit will be able to tell me my speed without sensors?

    Secondly, is anyone selling sensors?

Garmin gives you speed out on the road yeah through GPS.

Only reason you'd need a speed sensor is if you use the bike indoors on a trainer or turbo.

Other sensors would be cadence or a power meter.

Oh and heart rate is another obviously common one.

It'll give you speed based on the GPS, which works grand most of the time, the most important exception being under tree cover - as an example, on the way into my town the road passes between a pair of small ridges with trees on both sides. I was using GPS speed for a while, and everything else being equal (cadence, no gear change etc) the speed measured under the tree cover was about 5km/h lower than a couple of seconds after I left it. A speed sensor connected to the wheel won't suffer from that.

Other than that, it depends really what you want to do with it. If you want to just use it for speed - not stressing too much about accuracy - and recording where you've been, then it'll be grand. I'd recommend at least a cadence sensor (it'll uisually be cadence with speed) as getting used to pedalling around 80-100rpm will probably do your knees the world of good in the long run. Then if you want to use it for training maybe a heart rate monitor (don't think I'd fancy a 2nd hand one of these 😬) and if you like looking at numbers and are getting serious, a power meter (nice to have, but you almost certainly don't need one)

    Thanks for the advice.

I'll probably leave off the speed and cadence sensors for a while.

I forgot I could connect my HRM to get that information as well.
