Xtra-Vision had a store in Thomas Street but I remember there being a video rental place on Thomas Street years before Xtra-Vision.

Was it called Video City?

And did Xtra-Vision take over the premises?

I don't remember that far back, but from looking at these,

Xtra-Vision were advertising the Thomas Street shop in 1991.

They are not advertising any store in the same publication from 1990 (link below). Maybe they came to Limerick 1990/1991. I would have thought it was far later than that. But they used to use Black and Yellow colours before rebranding with the Red and Yellow - Could that be you thinking there was a previous video rental store there? I genuinely can't remember.

If memory serves me right Video city was upstairs from where Boots was on William Street. Xtravision was on Thomas street. There was also a big video shop on Roches st where the travel agents is now. There was a kiosk in the parkway as well which converted to Xtravision as I remember our original account number transferring over.

Thanks for that. A lot of modern 'content creators' and festival organisers should spend some time reading a few of these to see how a clear layout and event listing can benefit their events. The articles that don't look like a quick copy and paste scrape from wiki are also a very pleasant throwback.

There was another video rental place on William Street in the 80s/early 90s, just beyond Daly's I think.

Not the place that sold dvds in the 00s. Another building further up.

I can't remember the name of it either but my dad used to bring me back megadrive games when he was working saturdays , had a huge selection all along the backwall , was a mad place
