One-off rural housing -whats happening??

Months ago the Minister promised new guidelines on Rural one-off houses. First it was said "by end 2021" then by "by end 1st quarter 2022". Both dates have come and gone. Meanwhile. Co. Councils are all developing County Development Plans for 2023. I have found various news stories about how different Councils are proposing new rules for One Off Houses in their areas. In some cases, elected councillors have refused to vote for the restrictions on OOH's proposed by planners. In some cases this has then been referred to Office of Planning Regulator. The OPR has written to councils telling them to change plans.

So what happens next? Is the Minister going to step in, or will we end up in a couple of months with several revolts by councillors against restrictions that are being applied in a random and inconsistent manner in different counties. From the point of view of someone applying for pp for OOH, should one apply now, or wait for all the messing to be sorted out?

Would you believe what any politician promises?

As to when to apply you should check the rural housing policies of the current development plan for your county and when it expires and then decide. Development plans are renewed in different years by the various councils.

Also bear in mind that development plans are adopted by the elected members and not officials.
