Assistance please- we have a back boiler which we do not want to connect to rads only to use as a wood burner ( We are aware that once we use this for burning wood that the boiler part can not be used further down the line) What would be the best way to use this I remember reading somewhere that someone wrote add sand and drill holes on top? any advice would be highly appreciated - Thanks a mill

The only safe way is to remove it altogether. Without water to dissipate the heat, the boiler can warp and push out the fireplace. I remember reading of a fatality caused by such an instance.
