Bought a car today from a dealer and it isn't taxed. I changed my insurance over and just waiting on the disc to be emailed to me. How do I go about taxing this car? I've no choice but to drive it to work tomorrow in taxed and last tax disc had just run out. It was a fleet car. Have I to wait for the VRC to be sent to me or is there something I can do to instead. Traded my old car against it and just signed the sales agreement. I didnt get a log book from them.

First time I bought a car myself so don't know the process. My last car was a gift and everything had been sorted for me, so I'm out of the loop as to what to do.

Log book will come in the post pretty quickly. a week ish Can tax it minute you get that.

www.motortax.ie and use last 6 digits off the top of the front page.

But yeah if you drive before that you're chancing it. I'd do it and keep the receipt from purchase on me.

Thanks a mill, I'll have no choice but to go for it and hope for the best. I'll keep receipt on me for sure. You've put my anxiety to rest, I really appreciate the reply!
