One tree growing out of another

Hi, in my garden, I appear to have a tree growing out of the trunk of a different species of tree.

I don't know the name of either.

I wonder if it came from bird dispersal as my neighbour appears to have one growing on his side of the fence too. I must ask if his one is a surprise visitor too.

I know when my Dad was alive he used to be driven mad by ash tree saplings that used to randomly grow in his garden.

Is this one of those situations?

Or is it a case of the tree that I planted being fused to a trunk of a different species and the original species has broken through.

The original tree appears to have been grown on a rootstock, the big branch at the side is a branch of the rootstock tree that has taken off.

Yep most likely a cherry or plum tree.

Remove the 'sucker' as careful as you can op
