Long HDMI cable

Hearing mixed messages about whether a 10 metre HDMI cable would cause reduced performance on my new 4K OLED tv ?

Currently have the sky box placed under the TV but would look neater in another location

Don't mind paying good money for a cable that won't mean a reduced viewing experience on any level

I have it hooked up to a gaming pc with a rtx 3060ti graphics card. The TV only supports 60Hz 4k so can't comment on 120Hz performance. It's actually a fibre optic cable but doesn't need any external power supply.

10 metres is a bit too long for HDMI. What I would do is use a HDMI extender, which converts HDMI to CAT5/6 and then converts it back. CAT5/6 can transmit over longer distances. See example of a kit below. Yes it is an extra cost, but I personally wouldn't go any further than 5m with a HDMI cable.

very interesting , im a bit thick when it comes to new things , so do i need to get that other cable as well ( blue roll in attachment pics ) ?

OK I figured it out ,you plug one short HDMI cable into sky box ,then plug other end of same HDMI into the first extender, then get the cheaper cable and plug it in other end ,allow said cable to cover most of the distance to TV ,then use the second extender and a second short HDMI cable for final journey to TV ?

Seems unnecessarily complicated (wires, sockets, power supplies etc) when the single cable I linked to does the job very well. I agree a 5m would be the limit for a conventional hdmi cable but the 10m fibre optic one I linked to above works very well.

obviously this would indeed be more straight forward but a lot of commentary on line about a HDMI of that length being less reliable in terms of maintaining maximum TV performance ?

It does complicate the set-up slightly. But if OP is after the best possible experience with their new TV, it is recommended.

Im running a 10m on a oled and no issues, TV to dennon avr

Its worth a punt with a cheap cable, if it doesn't work then nothing lost.
