Baxi boiler: "hot water only" not working

    Hi all

We have a Baxi 35/80 IE boiler in our home. There are two settings (other than 'off') on the selector switch: "central heating and hot water", and "hot water only". However the "hot water only" function doesn't work and never has, I don't think it was never set up (certainly wasn't when we moved in).

Can this be changed? At the moment if we want to heat water for a shower or just for the sink, we have to heat everything. There is a 'summer valve' in the hotpress where we can manually shut off the flow to the radiators, but this isn't ideal and usually gets forgotten about in the wrong position. If the 'hot water only' option can be added to the boiler, is there plumbing involved or (just) modification to the boiler itself? Can this be overcome with a smart thermostat which has a 'hot water only' setting, or is there more involved?

    Thanks in advance,

    D
