Hello All, This is just a friendly reminder to read the Forum Charter where you wish to post before posting in it. :)
Hi all, The AutoSave Draft feature is now disabled across the site. The decision to disable the feature was made via a poll last year. The delay in putting it in place was due to a bug/update issue. This should serve as a reminder to manually save your drafts if you wish to keep them. Thanks, The Boards Team.

    The Crotty Cup 2022

    Saturday May 7th, 2022

The Crotty Cup hosted by West Clare Cycling Club is one of Irelands oldest races dating back to 1934.

The route has changed many times over the years but the passion for racing remains the same.

Some previous winners of the Crotty Cup are Jarlath Hassett WCCC, Vincent Gleeson WCCC, Jamie McGahon WCCC Daire Feeley DD, Alan Buckley LCC and in 2019 Stephen Murphy from Black Rose.

The Paddy Cotter Cup has also been held in high regard and the Cotter name is synonymous with cycling in Clare, some previous winners are Ger Troy BurrenCC, Alan Benson LCC, Brian Ruane Lucan CC and in 2019 Art Mozdzer Nenagh CC.

This year we have a seperate A3 race which should be strongly contested if their last race here was anything to go by with some West Clare members already eyeing up this one.

    The Route

Starting outside Kilrush Community School we have a little climb after 100m out of Kilrush

then we have a mostly flat section towards the village of Cooraclare (8km) where you have left turn over the bridge.

As you climb out of Cooraclare the road flattens again then it's on to the village of Cree (13km)

then a left at the crossroads and on to Doonbeg (20km)

Through Doonbeg and on to Belaha Church which is the start of today's toughest climb, it's 2km to the top then you will

have the pleasure of seeing the beautiful Kilkee Cliffs on your decent towards Kilkee (30km)

You will pass through Kilkee rather quickly then it's head down for the fastest section of the race heading towards Kilrush to the start/finish line (44km - 1lap)

Entering Kilrush there is a fast downhill then it kicks up for the final sprint to the finish line so don't forget to smile for the camera ;-)

We look forward to welcoming you all to West Clare for a great day's racing.

    A1 & A2's - 3 laps - 132km

    A3's - 2 laps - 88km

    A4's - 2 laps - 88km

    Distance - 44.25km
