    Hi all,

I have a mk3 Skoda Fabia that came without air con.

I have a little one on the way and the car gets pretty warm in the summer months.

Is it possible to get air con put in or is this a very expensive thing to do?

Can probably be done, but would be very expensive in both parts and labour. You'd need an air con compressor and a longer serpentine belt to drive it because of the extra space it would take up on the side of the engine , you'd also need an evaporator, a condenser, a dryer and an expansion valve, also all the high pressure and low pressure lines for the entire system, probably need to remove the entire dashboard somewhere along the line too.

You're looking at thousands as opposed to hundreds in a bill for all that to be supplied and fitted

Yes, unfortunately. I would presume if there are fabias with air con in higher spec models that the spaces would be there for it on the models that don't have air con i.e blank space left where the air con compressor would be, with the mounting holes there and threaded ready to go, but it would be a hell of a lot of work I reckon to fit the whole system.

If you really need the air con, It would be cheaper and less stress if you could find the same car of the same year but a model with air con, and explain your situation to the dealers and see could you do a trade with a few hundred their way on top of it

Mine too, I literally test the AC before I even take the prospective car for a test drive.
