Moving Bank - Child Benefit Allowance

As KBC are leaving Ireland we have to move our current account.

We have set one up with our local Core credit Union and its up and running now.

We complete the form to switch over direct debits but I'm guessing that is for charges only to the account not payments.

How do we go about moving child benefit payments.

I had a look on https://services.mywelfare.ie/en/topics/parents-children-family/child-benefit/ but that talks about setting up a child benefit account and needs a Public Services Card which we don't have anyhow (going to make an appointment for that), anyone any advice on how to get this done?

We absolutely rely on these payments now more than ever and are quite stressed worrying that it may be missed.

Thanks, I was hoping we could skip getting the PSC processed first as that is likely to take time to arrange, but so be it.

Are you sure you can not just request a new DD mandate from the department 🤔 you seem to be referring to mywelfare accounts already set up and yes those account holders can update bank details through mywelfare . If you have an existing payment in place it's worth just calling the department and ask if you can just change bank details, they might just send you a DD mandate to sign with new bank details.

For any NEW SW payments it's likely you need a PSC.

I'd still recommend you get one and set up a mygovid account.

KBC are expected to give 3 months from 1st June so you have plenty of time 😏
