    Hey guys,

I was made redundant last week so I opened a JSA claim via the mygov app on last Friday. I got no notifications since but checked the app again today and it says my claim has been awarded. Is this usual, to not get a notification or anything? Also, I haven't been on JSA in many years, do I get paid into my bank account or do I have to pick it up in a local Post Office? Thank you.

Hi there, sorry you've been made redundant.

Yes it's common you don't get a notification but the award is good.

Did you submit your bank details or nominate post office collection 🤔

My understanding is all new Jobseekers claims are only being paid through post office. (recent announcement) but it may not have been implemented yet.

You'll likely recieve a letter shortly confirming award and when to start collecting, probably from next Wednesday and any arrears should be included in your first payment.

Or they may process a payment for this week (Friday), it's a Bank Holiday weekend so that may effect you getting payment this week.

    Hi,

Thank you for the kind words and the help. I believe I entered both my bank details and selected a post office when signing up as I think it asked for both? Suppose the best course of action would be to check in the post office. Is payment usually on a Wednesday, or should I wait until next week?

    Thanks again!

No problem, payment is normally Wednesday I believe, I'm sure you'll get a letter in the coming days confirming everything, I just mentioned a possibility of something this week if as you say showing awarded.

You might be lucky and get paid into bank account, just wanted to mention they intend to move payments back to PO but not sure when, so keep an eye, if nothing is recieved this week it should be sorted by Wednesday next week 😏

Just a quick update. I've checked the app again and now under 'Payment History' I have a payment on today's date that says basic rate April 22nd- 26th €138. I guess that means that's the amount I've gotten paid from when I opened the claim on the 22nd? As I should fall under the full €208 rate.

Correct, full rate from next week, did you get it into your bank account 🤔

Thanks again haha. Nope, no funds in my account so guess it's in the post office!

I would wait and see if it arrives into your account later or in the morning, if not check post office tomorrow. As I mentioned they are pushing any new claims towards PO collection but I'm not sure if this has started.

Normally what shows on payment information on mywelfare has been paid.

Great. I'll wait until tomorrow and if no funds in my account I'll head to the post office. Thanks again for all the info!
