My wife thinks that if we cut fresh green bamboo canes from our own bamboo and use them for the runner beans that they will root.

I say no they won't, particularly if cut just above a node.

    Who is right?????

I am only guessing, but I agree, no they won't. Any more than a seed stem of grass would root if you broke it off and stuck it in the ground.

Let us know who was right!

Clumping bamboo can be propagates by Clum cuttings. A fresh stem will root.

Ok, I stand corrected 😀. Apparently they will root from cuttings.

I would say they could root but what's the worry - you'll be pulling them out before could establish.

But is a half inch thick stem with 6-7 foot of growth on it going to be an ideal subject for a cutting? Certainly not what I'd choose but later in the season we will find out.
